PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
