Nottingham Forest v Malmö and memories of 1979. The both teams have a historical link, also facing each other in Forest's previous European adventure in the 1995-96 Uefa Cup, but it is the European Cup final decades past that connects these teams, with Britain's first £1m player Trevor Francis scoring the winner of a rather dull championship game to claim legendary status for the the English club.

It's also interesting to consider Malmö, who became the first, and to date the last Swedish club to make the championship match under manager Houghton.
Tonight's game is a far cry from that pinnacle, closer perhaps to the previous continental meeting between Forest and Malmö in 1995-96. Forest are riding high after defeating Liverpool convincingly at the famous ground on Saturday, while Malmö haven't played officially since early November following the end of the Swedish league season. The smart money is on the Forest tonight.
